Because this is an elective college preparatory course, students are not required to take this course. This means that students are not in this class to fulfill graduation requirements. Most students take this course because they want to specialize in STEM subjects. Therefore, most students are very self-directed in their homework and highly disciplined. Students know to get the worksheet from the back of the room when they enter the classroom, and they know to prepare to learn when they enter the classroom. Students know when to copy notes while the teacher writes them on the document camera or whiteboard. Students follow the teacher's directions and focus on small group or whole group discussion.
