Commercialization is the process of engaging a business in commerce. Commercialization is the process involved in making a product a commercial success. The process involves the production, dissemination, sales, marketing and support necessary to commercialize the product or business. Commercialization extends to various sectors, including education, agriculture and the sports industry. Commercialization of education is a new trend that has led to reforms in the education sector. The commercialization of education can be seen through the rise of private schools and institutions. This privatization introduced the financial element into the qualifications needed for education, especially higher education. The marketization of education requires structural adjustments, changes in accountability and reconceptualization of the education system. This commercialization has an effect on many families and therefore changes the entire concept of education, especially the student-teacher relationship, the purposes of education and the attitude towards education. The commercialization of education has a greater effect on the stakeholders involved, such as teachers, administrators and the student's parents, due to the shift from the vertical relationship to a horizontal relationship in which the role of the teachers and that of the student changes to that of a business and customers (Book 75). The commercialization of sport is illustrated by the amount of money involved in sport. Industry stakeholders are investing a lot of money to improve their performance with the aim of making profits. Sport has changed shape and size and is no longer just a source of entertainment, but a... paper medium... inevitable and necessary for the development of any sector. The process involves prioritizing the value of money in carrying out activities. Commercialization brings out positive effects in the business being marketed, but it also has negative effects. These negative effects are often trivial and do not significantly hinder the commercialization process. Work Cited Bok, Derek. Universities in the market: the commercialization of higher education.
