It is composed of contradictory phrases such as "changes so that nothing with change (Szymborska, 2000, p. 161)." The woman's role in this poem seems to be the typical female character of having children, being submissive to the male, and reading Ladies Home Journal for entertainment in her free time. The woman is “Naive, but gives the best advice. Weak, but tolerates anything. A screw loose and tough as nails. Naive, weak and nuts might be how a male describes her, but she would say she gives the best advice, has the willpower to face anything and is tough as nails. The last two lines of the poem read: “She must love him, otherwise she is simply stubborn. For better or for worse, for heaven's sake." For better or for worse he is taken out of a traditional wedding ceremony and since they are married, she is tied to him forever and it is her duty to love and please him. Although the described role of the wife is not as common in today's tradition, since gender roles are not as defined in the postmodern era, there are still numerous male figures around the world who believe that this is still the wife's utmost duty.
