Topic > Persuasive Essay on Animal Testing - 2063

Unethical, cruel and disturbing. These are just some of the words that come to mind when society thinks about animal testing. Animals used in laboratory tests and experiments are subjected to hours and hours of painful and traumatizing tests daily, doing this is wrong and should not be done. What is this country doing to stop this torture? They are doing absolutely nothing. There are some organizations like People for the Ethical Treatments of Animals and The Humane Society of the United States (humansociety.org) that are working together to put an end to this terrible outrage, but some groups of people will not have much impact on this issue . This nation needs to unite and see the truth behind these crimes. Animal testing must be stopped because animals have a wide range of emotions that are the same as humans, tests performed on animals are not reliable or efficient, and there are many alternatives that can be used to save the lives of many animals . Animals can feel emotions and feel pain. According to “dictionary.com,” an animal is “any member of the kingdom Animalia, comprising multicellular organisms that have well-defined shape and usually limited growth, can move voluntarily, actively acquire food and digest it internally, and have sensory and nervous systems that allow them to respond quickly to stimuli. The definition clearly states that animals have a sensory and nervous system and respond quickly to stimuli. If an animal can respond to stimuli, why shouldn't it be capable of feeling emotions? Some scientists argue that animals cannot experience the same type of emotions as humans, however recent research has shown that animals respond to the environment as humans do, reacting to emotions… middle of paper… to movements. Monkeys are addicted to drugs and have holes drilled into their skulls, sheep and pigs have their skin burned, and rats have their spinal cords crushed. Small mice develop tumors as large as their bodies, kittens are deliberately blinded and rats are made to suffer convulsions. In archaic medical training courses, pigs and dogs are quartered and killed, while cats and ferrets have hard plastic tubes stuffed down their delicate throats. Most of these barbaric experiments are funded by the federal government using public taxpayer money. So we are wasting precious dollars on cruel experiments. This is immoral, cruel and disturbing and just a few words are enough to describe animal testing. This is why animal testing is wrong, so think about all those animals that suffer before you buy makeup, medicine, and bath products that have been tested on animals.
