An electronic health record can be described as the collection of electronic health information about patients. These types of medical records are electronically formatted and can be shared between different healthcare institutions. Patients' medical records can remain protected in the electronic medical record. Electronic health records may include a variety of data consisting of medical history, allergies, radiology images, laboratory test results, medications, and personal statistics such as weight, age, and other billing information (Busch, 2008). The essay addresses the proposal to implement electronic health records (EHRs) for all Americans. Furthermore, the essay addresses the issues and problems related to electronic health records.
