Safety is extremely important and hospitals do their best to ensure it. Hospital windows should be sealed to reduce the number of deaths by suicide, by falls in general but especially among children aged 18 and under, and for fire safety. Opening a window may seem harmless, but sometimes it's not worth letting that nice breeze in. That's why there are alternative roots like fans and air conditioning that should be emphasized more. Unfortunately, sometimes there are not enough chaperones in the hospital to observe patients who may need them to make sure they are safe.
