Christopher Johnson McCandless was a hiker also known as Alexander Supertramp and ventured into the Alaskan wilderness in April 1992 with some food and equipment, hoping to live in isolation. Nearly four months later, McCandless' body, weighing just 30kg, was found. His story shocked many people and caught the attention of magazine writer Jon Krakauer. He initially wrote a small article in Outside magazine which sparked much controversy among readers. Since Krakauer received a lot of attention from his article, he decided to further investigate McCandless's trip. Krakauer ends up writing the book titled Into the Wild and explains McCandless's life before his journey into the wilderness in great detail. Nowadays, most teenagers or young adults would never give up the life they have, because we are so attached to electronics and our surroundings, because Chris McCandless is a different story, he gave everything he had in life to go out and live a cloistered life that caused his death.CHRIS McCANDLESS BEFORE INTO THE WILDChris McCandless was born in El Segundo, California, on February 12, 1968 and was Carine's older brother. His father was employed as an antenna specialist at the National Aeroutics and Space Administration. His mother worked as a secretary at Hughes Aircraft. Then the family decided to move to Fairfax, Virginia, where Chris lives. Chris's parents often argued and sometimes thought about divorcing. Chris and Carine have six half-siblings living in California from his father's first marriage. Chris's father had an affair with Chris's mother while he was married, because of this he felt bitterness towards his father, maybe he was so ashamed of him that he just wanted to get... middle of paper... ..er article in the history of the magazine” in the sense that readers were interested in the article he wrote entitled “Outside”. Also, reading the mail, he had two kinds of views, first one as he said "Some readers admired the boy immensely for his courage and noble ideas" and the other view is "He died due to of arrogance and stupidity and did not deserve the significant media attention it received” I believe he decided to do more in-depth research on Chris McCandless, the guy who decided to live differently than the rest of us, to answer questions from both points of view. As he wrote the book he wanted the reader to read and express their own opinions. He wrote about his past life and his conflicts that led him to choose to live in the wilderness Krakauer wrote more and more about Chris, readers began to learn about Chris from every aspect of his life.
