Catholic salvation includes a strong involvement in the church with the process of baptism and penance. The Protestant faith believes that the path to salvation requires only faith in the resurrection and sacrifice of Christ Jesus. The Islamic faith holds the completely opposite view in that salvation is achieved through the works one performs as human beings, something very opposite from the Christian point of view. Christianity is focused on forgiveness and mercy, combined with apocalyptic visions, hell and the wrath of God. But Islam is all about justice and the destruction of non-believers. Allah is merciful, but not to those who do not share his practice. The ancient history of Christianity is made up of persecutions and martyrdom; Jesus himself submits to crucifixion.
