It is not always easy to determine in the early stages of a relationship whether a person will become violent. Abusers may often seem wonderful and perfect initially, but gradually become more aggressive and controlling as the relationship continues. Violence and control always intensify over time with abusers, despite excuses (ncadv.org). I Choose Life attempts to give a voice to victims and survivors of domestic violence. In addition to offering an understanding of domestic violence, we build workshops and educational programs that will help drive that change. Domestic violence is the sole responsibility of the abuser. A victim may be too embarrassed or humiliated to ask for help. Being a victim of domestic violence myself, you learn to keep things inside and keep to yourself. You feel that if you walk away from everything and everyone, things will work themselves out. It is not true. Accept the help that is offered to you, overcoming domestic violence is not something you have to do alone or live in fear
