Topic > The Pros and Cons of Robotics - 1223

We live in a world where every day presents a new threat, a new struggle, a new reason to improve and it seems like we are on the right path, but are we really? There are many different perspectives on the discussion of robotic warfare or the use of robotics, both internationally and domestically. For example, the UAV or unmanned aerial vehicle is something we use nationally and internationally. Its uses can be varied, but mainly it is used to explore and gather information on specific missions or areas. However, this is not just limited to air. It is also used for vehicles on land and in water. But nowadays it seems like we're past that and want more. We must establish and think about new and innovative ways to better prepare the United States, again both domestically and internationally. The war in Iraq is long and above all very dangerous. Thus, new tools that can be used to preserve human life would be logical. However, with new technologies emerging every day, we must adapt and learn to use machines correctly to avoid repercussions or consequences if we don't do it enough. PW Singer talks about robotics used by the military and the robotics of the future. Whether it is good or bad we have yet to find out. iRobot is a robotics company that launched two products that caused a sensation; Roomba and Packbot. Roomba was a vacuum cleaner and could do the job itself. It was able to detect and understand the shape and size of the room and practically wander around collecting dust and other things. Even more interesting was the creation of Packbot. Packbot was built so that explosive ordinance disposal or EOD teams don't put their lives at risk. This was a pretty big creation, because, in Afghanistan and Iraq the IEDs or Impro...... middle of paper ...... don't bother when having to do them will create a problem not only for the machine but for the mission. Another thing that has always been a topic of conversation in the military is ideas about robotic humans. He sends a replica of a human who is actually a war-fighting robot. With a creation like this there could be no technical problem because the impact of the result could be great or devastating. This has yet to happen and with rapid growth in technology this could very well be achieved in the relatively near future. As we continue to build and create robots or computers we will always have to think about the consequences or repercussions we might face. The reactive part of planning must be mysterious and ready for anything. It would be foolish to build something and not plan for the worst case scenario in case the same thing happens to us.
