Compare the story “Gentleman, your verdict” with the Robert Latimer case. Both the “Gentleman, your verdict” story and the Robert Latimer case are painful to read or hear about. They seem to be very similar in the main idea as they read for the first time. However, a closer reading of both stories also shows us some key differences. First, I will investigate the differences of both situations. Captain Oram was a commander stranded on a submarine in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with his crews. On the other hand, Robert was a farmer in Saskatchewan and watched his 12-year-old daughter lead a life worse than death. Captain Oram didn't have much time to make his decisions unlike Robert who had been grappling with the situation for a long time. Once again, Oram had to think more professionally because these were his crews, and he had to make the best decision to save their lives according to his professional code.
