Homosexuality is a term to describe a person who is sexually attracted to people of the same sex. Homosexuality can be used to refer to both gays and lesbians. Discrimination against homosexuality has been a major issue resulting in numerous victims and it is vital to stop this needless death. Although homosexuality can be considered blasphemy from a religious point of view, discrimination against homosexuality can lead to bullying, depression and suicidal tendencies against humanity. Discrimination against homosexuality has existed for a long time and is getting better as time goes by. There are various reasons behind opposition to homosexuality, but one of the main reasons is religion. In most cases, homosexuality is viewed negatively in the religious context. There are also cases where religion supports homosexuality. The Hindu Council of the United Kingdom was the first religious organization to support homosexuality, stating that Hinduism does not condemn homosexuality. Religious people, regardless of their views on homosexuality, usually refer to their sacred text as a guide to their judgment. This can be misleading, as there is no guarantee that the translation from the original ancient language means exactly what it was translated into (Princeton.edu, 2014). Secondly, there are prejudices and stereotypes about homosexuality. For example, there are people who link HIV with homosexuality and how some people say that homosexuality is caused by excessive sexual needs and that homosexual relationship is based on sex, not on feelings and mutual connection.
