“Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people” (Lincoln), while dictatorship is a form of government that operates under one Man government. In other words, democracy distributes power among people and dictatorship centralizes power under one person. Since partition, Pakistan has faced several democratic and dictatorial governments and still finds itself stumbling between both forms of government. Opinions on whether democracy or dictatorship is better for Pakistan vary from person to person. However, this problem cannot be solved through emotional discourse, rather logical explanations and accurate evidence are needed for the best possible conclusion. Although many argue that Pakistan would be better off if it were governed by a democratic government, however, this is not the case due to the inefficiency of decision making in democratic governments, high rate of illiteracy in Pakistan, transparent voting system and the diversity of Pakistan's social fabric. First, in a democratic government decisions are made slowly, based on personal benefits and voter satisfaction and not for the prosperity of the people and the betterment of the country, while in a dictatorship the decision-making process is efficient and fast. Decisions are made to promote the progress of a country. In a democratic government decisions are usually made for political purposes and the main purpose behind a decision is to get people's attention. In fact, decision-making authority is used as a tool to get more votes. Furthermore, areas of followers are preferred for progressive projects while areas of opponents are ignored, which gives rise to social instability. As a result, a specific part of the country becomes prosperous with... middle of paper... as a dictatorial government avoids social instability by taking into account the prepositions of some wise men when doing economic affairs. and political decisions Thus, it can be said that dictatorship is the best form of government for Pakistan or at least the best available.
