Wicca is an earth-based religion with gods and goddesses. There is no leadership center because every person's journey is different from each other. The vision of the person who has a different background, views of the world around them and a personal connection with the goddess/god. There are people who practice alone and are called loners. There are people who practice in a coven just like in a church. In a coven, there are ranks to earn to become a High Priest or High Priestess. You are initiated into the coven to be a First Degree that lasts a year and a day. There are multiple ranks to earn for leadership training to become a High Priest or High Priestess. The witch is preferred to both male and female among Wiccans. The sorcerer is not used unless a member betrays their coven or the pagan community. Some people in the Pagan community believe that Wicca came before Christianity. In pre-Christian times, there were many practices of gods and goddesses from cultures that had a sorcerer or witch queen. Witchcraft is believed to date back twenty or thirty thousand years ago, to the Paleolithic age. Wicca or witchcraft of Christians believe that witches worship the devil and practice sinister hand black magic. The reason is to believe that witches worship the Devil is due to the Horned God of the ancient religion. “Psalm 96: All the gods of the pagans are demons.” There is no mention of the Devil in the New Testament. So Christians are led to believe that they are turning witches or pagans into Christianity. According to Scripture, Christians are taught by the promotion of fear and years of misunderstanding of Wicca, as well as other pagan religions. This is how the elders of the Christian church have made people believe… middle of paper… struggle. The Church didn't give me answers but taught me to keep my mouth shut in my youth. I believe everyone should have some form of spirituality within them. I think if we were more tolerant of each other in our different beliefs, wars in the name of their religion would never have been fought. Since religious wars have been going on for decades. This type of behavior will only continue until we “humans” teach the next generation to be more tolerant and less judgmental. Humans are such critical creatures to the point that I am judged every day for being Wiccan. I have to remind them "A judgmental person shouldn't live in a glass house and throw rocks at me" Works Cited(Cunningham, 2007)(Farrar, 1981, 1984)(Deer@pagani, 2000)(VCU, 2013) (Gardner, 1954 )(Linder, 2005)(Buckland, 1996)(Birch, 2014) (Buckland R. , 2002)
