Electric Vehicles:Current Uses:Currently electric vehicles are slowly becoming popular and some are already in showrooms. Furthermore, there are many enthusiasts and groups who have strongly pushed its use. While these cars don't share the same performance qualities as some gas-powered cars; Current technology is rapidly catching up. Hybrid vehicles have somewhat offered the best of both worlds. The cars are environmentally friendly but offer the power and mileage of other cars on the market. Additionally, there have been many ways to provide electricity to cars, including home rechargeable batteries and hydrogen power. Electric vehicles are a real possibility for the future because they have the lowest emissions while driving. Groups like E-Vermont are independent interest groups that have come together to try to use this technology and increase others' understanding of it. These interest groups are becoming very popular and many of them have found ways to transform ordinary cars into electric vehicles. Additionally, groups like this get together and have a race to showcase the alternative fuel technologies that exist in the world today. The most famous of these races is the Tour-De-Sol. This competition and festival highlights any form of transportation that promises less gas or oil consumption. This event helps showcase the advancements being made in electric vehicle technology. Many of the people in it use electric vehicles in one form or another. Some of them use a hybrid form while others are limited exclusively to a battery-charged electric vehicle. Most people don't know this, but electric vehicles are available for people to use. They haven't yet replaced the internal combustion engine as the vehicle of choice for most citizens, but electric power still has its place in the world. Electric vehicles are concentrated in two key categories: niche markets and environmentally conscious families. These are small sectors of the economy, but it is still important to note that in some sectors they have been successful. There is a good chance that growth could occur in these two arenas, but only time will tell. The niche market includes vehicles such as golf carts, municipal vehicles and warehouse vehicles. A niche market forms when the dominant technology, while possibly superior, cannot meet special requirements. In these cases it is the pollution caused by gas-powered vehicles that is a problem.
