Technology is how it extends human capabilities. It is very difficult to get a precise definition of technology. It is generally accepted that "technology" is more than just a collection of physical products of science. “Technology” is the link between society and its tools. The creation of software and hardware, telecommunications, databases, and the Internet have influenced society as a whole, and higher education in particular, by giving people new productivity options and changing the way they work (Hulbert, 1998) . In the so-called “information age” the increasing use of technology has become the driving force in how people work, learn and play (Drake, 2000). As this force evolves, the people who use the technology also change (Nelson, 1990). Adapting to technology is not easy. Some people tend to embrace change while others resist change (Wolski & Jackson, 1999). Before deciding whether or not to embrace technology, people should consider the practical and social consequences of accepting change. Technology changes the way people work and learn. As the role of technology is defined and constantly improved, change is inevitable (Davis-Millis, 1998; Brand, 2000). As a result, those involved in higher education must find ways to adapt to technological change. Administrators, faculty, academic librarians, and students should define the role of technology to (1) share new ideas and techniques for teaching and learning; (2) encourage enthusiasm and innovation; and (3) learn about opportunities and challenges and how to address them (Landsberger, 2001). Literature Review The term “stress” has multiple meanings. Since technology skills are an important part of most library and information jobs, librarians should ensure they continuously acquire technology skills. University libraries should employ trained information and technology specialists and problem solvers to maximize system accessibility and provide a level of comfort to librarians. A positive attitude towards computers and sensible management strategies will alleviate technological stress and benefit you. If these recommendations are followed, librarians at university libraries will look forward to working in an environment free of technological stress.
