Cold process soap is naturally alkaline with a pH of around 9-10. This pH helps gently cleanse the skin. The results were obtained by testing the pH level using pH papers of the neutralized and raw types of all three soaps. The color of the pH paper was then correlated to the pH paper level button on the pH paper tube. A pH level of 7.0 indicates a substance that is completely neutralized, and a pH level above 7.0 indicates a substance that is not neutralized. Each of the soaps was made up of three different types of triglycerides: fat, castor oil and lard. From these three types of soap there were raw soaps that had not undergone the neutralization process, and neutralized soaps that had undergone the process. An unexpected aspect was that the professional produced generic soap when he tested it in the test tube with water, but failed to produce it
