BSc Biological Sciences I am currently in the final stage of my PhD and will be submitting my thesis on 1 June 2010. I studied this BSc at the University of Queensland, St Lucia, Brisbane, and the main focus of my research was to improve performance of rapeseed (Brassica napus) under drought conditions through molecular selection. Through this research, I have gained in-depth knowledge of plant science, including plant phenotyping (field and greenhouse), genotyping, and relevant techniques in molecular biology and genetics. Prior to this, I completed a Master of Applied Science (Biotechnology) at the University of Western Sydney in 2004 which gave me knowledge and practical experience in microbial fermentation technology. Plant tissue culture/biotechnology Tissue culture and experiments with transgenic plants are a routine exercise in the laboratory I am currently working on. I often voluntarily performed tissue cultures to help other researchers in our lab. I also performed fungal tissue cultures in a year-long project conducted as part of my master's degree. In addition to that, I completed a laboratory course on microbial fermentation in which I used bioreactors in experiments aimed at maximizing microbial production of amylase (enzyme that breaks down starch into sugar) in paper medium.....and map using Mapmaker and Multipoint software and scented QTL analysis using Windows QTL Cartographer. Furthermore, I am accustomed to using several online bioinformatics tools including NCBI and BIOMANAGER. My expertise in computers and different programs and software has been well demonstrated in performing such analyses. My track record throughout my previous positions has demonstrated high work ethics with integrity and sincerity.
