Surprisingly, the store had several energy drinks with little or no calories. This can be seen in Figure 6. Figure 6 Drinking low-calorie energy drinks would be better than drinking protein shakes. Unless a person is active enough to burn the amount of calories contained in protein shakes, they should avoid them. Soda had fewer calories than coffee drinks, and that's because some coffee drinks contained cream or were flavored. While it didn't contain the highest amount of calories, it did contain more sugar. As shown in Figure 7.Figure 7 The protein shakes contained the least amount of sugar, which is interesting given that they contained the most calories. Energy drinks also have relatively low amounts of sugar, thanks to zero-calorie energy drinks. However, this could also be because the nutrition labels on the 20 oz. the soda bottles were 1 serving and the labels on the energy drinks were 2 servings even though they were in a can. Drinks contain carbohydrates even though they may appear to contain no carbohydrates. That's why it's important to check the label.
