One of the most disturbing experiments conducted involves taking organs from one species and transplanting them into another, known as xenotransplantation. The practice of genetic engineering on animals destroys the life of one animal to create specific, unnatural traits in another. Research has shown that people will only agree with and accept the practice of animal testing when they think animals do not experience suffering. However, if the experiments were broadcast more publicly, this problem would not exist. A second practice involves taking a chemical used to make a specific type of makeup and rubbing it into an animal's skin after its fur has been shaved. Skin irritation tests cause the chemical to penetrate the animal's body, not just the skin. This chemical process is also performed on the eyes. Scientists will drip a certain amount of a chemical into an animal's eyes, causing excruciating pain.
