Topic > Foundations of Justice and Biblical Law - 1456

In life people are aware of many perspectives of justice and law. Often people think about the similarities and differences, but don't really know how they work. What becomes questionable is whether justice is law or law is justice. I will then try to indicate as clearly as possible the different visions of justice and law from the biblical point of view and from the ideal of man. Theological Definition Justice Justice has various forms within the Bible and our society. Its most basic meaning is to treat humanity with love, respect and equanimity. Consider biblical justice; it encompasses individuals, communities, and the entire cosmos, advocating both goodness and impartiality. It is at the heart of true religion. In one sentence: In James 1:27 (New International Version), James states that the kind of “religion which God our Father accepts as pure and blameless is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to abstain from being polluted by the world." According to Metzger (2010), “The preceding Scriptures say, 'The righteous are concerned about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern' (Prov. 29:7).” It also means that the treatment of others will not go unpunished, regardless of race and/or class. If you commit the crime or something wrong, your accidents will receive the same punishment or will be treated the same. This is important to remember especially when writers or readers introduce righteousness from the Bible and refer to our God as “a father to orphans, a defender of widows” (Psalm 68:4-5 New International Version). Biblical FoundationThe foundation of righteousness begins with God's love explained and taught by our scripture notes or Bible reading.
