The Greeks had many masterpieces of ancient paintings that have not survived through the generations, but there are some that we learn from ancient copied paintings found in Pompeii, Rome and Herculaneum. Many of the extant paintings have a fresh, light varnish that still remains. The Romans showed our generation that Greece had beauty and meaning in their designs. The Romans are the ones who kept alive the great paintings and sculptures who developed their ability to use concrete for arches, vaults or domes, this was of great support in the construction of architectural structures of skyscrapers where this was put into act. In Roman times they built on their own high-end open theaters, they got this idea from the Greeks.
