Symbolism is something that can represent multiple quantities of things is an object or a character. In the story A Rose for Emily the rose was symbolic because it represents love and secrecy. To Miss Emily Homer Barron represented a rose. Homer Barron was her love and a secret to Miss Emily. Miss Emily had loved Homer Barron ever since he met her, but she kept it a secret. The American flag also represents the symbolism that represents our country just as the American eagle represents freedom for our country. Each color on our flag represents something and the stripes represent each thirteenth colony. This story has a lot of symbolism. There are many characters and symbolic objects. This story is about a woman who was locked in her house because her father didn't want her to find love. When her father died some people showed up and when they were ready to take her father's body to bury him she didn't want them to take his body she wanted to keep his body with her but she couldn't so and they buried the body in the ground. Later a boy named Colonel Sartoris said he didn't have to pay any taxes. Colonel Sartoris never kept track of the fact that Miss Emily didn't have to pay the taxes, so when Colonel Sartoris died later in life the sheriff told Miss Emily that she had to pay the taxes that she owed and Miss Emily had told the sheriff who paid no taxes to visit and talk to Colonel Sartoris. Colonel Satoris had already died some time ago but Miss Emily didn't know it because she had been locked in the house for a long time. Miss Emily meets a boy and his name was Homer Barron she fell in love with him but she never really knew what love was because her father had kept her locked up in the house all her life since... middle of paper.. . ... despite his eccentricities he was committed to living life on his own terms and not to submit his behavior, no matter how shocking, to the approval of others. Miss Emily was very respected because because of her family all the people in the town respected her and her lifestyle was a monument to everyone especially the boys and her old age hair meant she had a good respected life .
