Photography has come a long way from the first camera to today. In this essay I will begin by explaining how the first aspect called Camera Obscura began. The Camera Obscura was first developed and explained in antiquity during the 4th and 5th centuries BC. It was first developed by the Chinese and Greeks and later also studied by other philosophers in antiquity. It is used to create images that are transmitted through a pinhole camera onto a wall that is in a dark room. People like Aristotle studied the Camera Obscura and the Pinhole Camera. In 1814 Joseph Nicéphore Niépce took the Camera Obscura and developed a special type of paper on which images could be printed. These photographs printed by Joseph did not last long and faded after some time. But it wasn't until 1826 that he invented permanent images/photographs. His photographs were made on a polished pewter plate covered with petroleum derivative which then hardened with exposure to light. The unhardened parts would be washed off and the metal plate could be polished, thus creating a negative image, and then the negative image could be printed onto a piece of paper or other material. Other inks and types of chemicals were later developed that could be used to print images more efficiently. Cameras later became more popular as people began to want self-portraits of themselves or family portraits. It became a major business and would become a huge success. But one of the biggest changes came when Kodak invented the first “point-and-shoot camera,” which allowed people to immediately take a photo and post it later. This gave photographers a greater opportunity to take better photos like... the center of the paper... so much future. Works Cited "Digital Photography". Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Network.
