Topic > Education in Kerala is having a negative impact on…

Who would suspect that something as crucial and beneficial as education could be harmful to a society? people of Kerala will find out soon. For as long as man can remember, Kerala has been a mass producer of coconuts. However, in recent years, as education began to be introduced in small-town India, coconut production has declined dramatically. The people of Kerala do not know that despite their simpler lifestyle, education will gradually lead to their cultural and economic decline. Along with their collapse, the entire world would also suffer economically. As beneficial as it may be, in some cases education could ruin the culture and economy of a society. It is inevitable that education is of utmost importance to the basic social well-being of a society. Especially now, in the 21st century, literacy plays a key role in each of our lives. Kerala, a mass-producing coconut state in India, has caught on to this current educational trend and is now spreading it across its territory. But due to this educational boom, “the number of coconut pickers in Kerala has declined drastically over the last two decades. Young adults instead chose white-collar jobs. The shortage of climbers is threatening Kerala's coconut industry” (Gable,1). Now, instead of choosing coconut as a vocation, citizens of Kerala can better choose which job they really want, simplifying their lifestyle. However, as much as education has a positive impact on the quality of lifestyle of the citizens of Kerala, it also forces the entire world to pay a significant toll in return. Due to the free education imparted in Kerala, the coconut industry across the world is ra... middle of paper... we don't know how important each and every part of the coconut is. It is critical for us to recognize that the people of Kerala are not the only people who rely on the resources provided by coconuts. Instead, the rest of the world relies on products created from certain parts of the coconut, such as the shell for rope or the milk for lotion. If education in Kerala persisted, these daily necessities would be gradually eliminated from our daily lives. Slowly, as the number of coconut harvesters in Kerala declines, our global economy will face a new danger; the inflation of all coconut products and goodbye to the fruity fun that coconuts provide. Not only this, but Kerala's society and culture would also slowly deteriorate. It is undeniable that while education is beneficial to many, it can also lead to the collapse of a society's culture and economy..
