This is also called gender discrimination which has been followed since ancient times and continues to be a serious situation even as the 21st century progresses. It is one of the characteristics of the United States, although government and non-government agencies have made tremendous progress in achieving women's rights through education, empowerment, and dynamic acts over the last century. However, there is still a long way to go to achieve total equality. The most important issues of female inequality at work are the pay gap and the “glass ceiling”. These are the main concerns that women face, even though in most cases they are more educated or efficient than men. Although women have worked in some capacity in the United States since this country came into being, they get very low wages and promotions. During World War I, women entered the workforce due to a shortage of men. They worked until World War II and occupied positions reserved for men. Seven million women entered the workforce, but they had no legal rights until the passage of Title VII of the Civil Law of 1964. According to this law, employers cannot discriminate against people based on sex, color, to race, national region and religion. Title VII makes it illegal for employers to refuse women to hire any available position based on qualification. This law allows women to sue their employer if they feel discriminated against. Women need to educate themselves by overcoming this concept that women are sensitive people who let their emotions control their mind. Women must demonstrate that they can overcome their emotions and handle any crucial situation at work when it arises. We should also educate the employee and employer about federal legislation related to workplace discrimination. Both should know that under federal law, when companies create employee handbooks and human resources policies, it is mandatory to include anti-discrimination laws in company procedures.
