Education and technology have been integrated in recent years. There are many reasons why educators should introduce technology into the learning process, as the new generation of students has been surrounded by various technologies. Prensky (2005) states that young people are fully absorbed and mastered in digital technologies such as computers, video games and the Internet. In particular, information and communication technologies (ICT) play an important role in the education of young students. There are many technological methods, such as instant messaging blogs, podcasts, and vodcasts, that allow students to collaborate, negotiate, contribute, and create knowledge (Asmus et al. 2005). There is no doubt that ICT has many benefits and this paper will present some benefits of using ICT in the educational process for young people. In particular, the focus will be on the use of databases and the encouragement of independent and collaborative learning. Nowadays, ICT plays an effective role in using databases easily and efficiently and this could develop learning in universities. Over the past decade, the range of information has been expanded and some of it has been digitized and stored on library websites. The University of Adelaide Library databases on the library website are great examples of information technology. According to the University of Adelaide (2010) these databases include various electronic data representing approximately 25 million articles and journals in different topics. This data system allows students to search in limited periods of time in this large amount of information, and this will save a lot of time and effort for researchers, who but...... half of the paper .... .. many facilities and services for us and provide us with many benefits.Works CitedAdelaide University, 2010, The University of Adelaide Library, In University of Adelaide Library, viewed 9 May 2010, .Attewell, J. 2005, Mobile Technologies and Learning, Learning and skills development agency, UK.Ausms, J., Bonner, C., Estehay, D., Lechner, A., & Rentfrow, C. 2005.
