The vote made by these people would prevent the passage of legalization in their state. • Reasons why these people and groups would oppose this action include that it harms traditional marriage, violates their religious freedom, is unconstitutional, and that it is unnatural. • The strongest reason given by these people is that same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. The Constitution defines marriage as the union between a man and a woman. Any deviation from this definition is unconstitutional, and therefore a marriage between a woman and a woman or between a man and a man is unconstitutional. • The weakest reason these people give is that it harms traditional marriage.
