These two are the rulers of the fairy world and have been married for a long time. When Oberon and Titania are first introduced, they are arguing over an Indian boy that Titania has taken under her protection. You can see right from the start that there is little communication in the relationship. Oberon did not even know that Titania had returned from India. One gets the impression that there is little trust in the relationship because both accuse the other of being unfaithful. As much as this may annoy the husband and wife, it seems that they only say those things to insult the other. There is also a lot of jealousy, along with the power struggle. Oberon shows his vengeful nature when he decides to teach Titania a lesson by making her fall in love with a hideous creature and humiliating her. He finds it funny that she seduces the human, Bottom, who has been transformed into a donkey. If Oberon truly loved Titania, he would be angry if she had sexual relations with anyone other than him. Instead, he does it so he can taunt her into giving him the Indian boyfriend, which is not how two people in a healthy marriage solve their problems. Only after getting what he wants does Oberon undo the love spell that had been cast on Titania. He asks very few questions and immediately accepts his proposal to be on good terms
