Seizures occur when abnormal signals come from the brain and change the way the body works. Many people have seizures but they have different effects on them. Some people shake their hands slightly and do not lose consciousness, while others shake a lot and lose consciousness. Although seizures have a number of life-changing effects on adults, more focus needs to be placed on children. There are different types of seizures, each with different effects. There are generalized seizures which are a type of seizure that affects the entire brain. There are partial seizures that affect one part of the brain. There are non-epileptic seizures, which aren't really related to seizures, but are caused by things, like diabetes, high fever. The cause of seizures is rapid disorganized electrical activity in the brain. Sometimes all seizures or just those in newborns are caused by "brain injuries that occur in the baby during labor or delivery." (“Convulsions” n.d.). When someone is choking, this can turn into a seizure. When someone becomes overly excited, hot, angry, and sad, this can also cause an attack. Seizures are a very bad thing to have or overcome. Seizures are a serious thing that can develop over time or that can begin when a person is born. The main treatment for seizures is medications. When people take the drug, they experience effects such as “weight gain, dizziness, skin rashes” (“Treatments and Medications,” n.d.). there are many other effects that occur, but these are the main ones. If the seizures do not improve after taking the medications, your doctor will need to decide whether to perform surgery or not. To perform surgery, doctors need to check the brain to see where the seizures are coming from. If t...... middle of paper......w ways to do something. When people develop seizures they will need to be cared for as if they have to have someone watching them at all times, but at the same time people need their space. People can have seizures throughout their lives. These are some interesting facts about seizures. Works Cited Epilepsy. (n.d.).
