Topic > The Six Types and Consequences of Critical Thinking

This skill gives you the ability to understand/interpret the meaning of information. I use this skill mainly during lessons and when making a decision. An example is when I take notes in class. I need to write down the information first and then I can start rewriting it in my own words for better understanding. Taking notes doesn't help you fully understand the information because it may be phrased in complex words or in a way you don't understand. So I usually look up terms I'm not familiar with and rewrite the notes in a way that makes sense to me. This will improve my understanding of the information and I will be able to explain it better in a test because it will be based on my clarity/perspective of the topic. For example, if I were to take notes about hepatitis being "a medical condition defined by inflammation of the liver" as stated by WebMD, I could then restate it to "hepatitis is inflammation of the liver" to better fit my understanding. This makes the definition easier to remember and understand. Another example concerns my Latin class. As mentioned above, I took notes on the golden rules, vocabulary terms, noun cases, and verb endings. I took those notes and put them into graphs for easier readability. Since the notes were written in my own words, I was able to better understand the information. An additional strategy to improve your understanding of the notes/material is to practice the information. I usually received
