Halliburton is one of the largest drilling companies in the world. This company has over 50,000 employees and operates in more than 70 countries including North America, Central and South America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania. Halliburton is comprised of two business divisions: (1) Drilling & Appraisal and (2) Completion & Protection. This paper will examine the various aspects of management planning within Halliburton. The management planning function is essential at all levels of the Halliburton organization. Planning is a methodical approach to translating the company's mission and vision into strategies and action plans that respond to the customer, shareholders and employees, as well as normal daily needs and changes in the economy. The approach and action plans are developed within the company. The products and service lines support business operations and regions to support their strategies, enabling an organization to become one, implementing the system and achieving overall strategic objectives. Plans also include risk identification, controls and contingency plans to control and mitigate threats. Legal Matters The SD and HSE Executive Committee will review incidents with legal counsel, seek guidance on legal exposures and ramifications and the best ways to manage them, and prepare for litigation. To achieve its goals, Halliburton created the Executive Committee for Sustainable Development, Health Security and the Environment. The committee also reviews corrective/preventive measures recommended by operations; and plans follow-up reviews to ensure implementation of these measures. Legal advice came in handy when allegations of unsafe water sickness... middle of paper... were successful, it must be of paramount importance to users for the systems to be accepted and accept their value. The pace at which culture and practices change to enable management system implementation does not match the speed of operations. Patience is very important when implementing a management system.
