The green flag falls on the first National Dirt Racing Association (NDRA) race. No matter where people go, on some small road in a small town, people will find a small dirt road. Freeways are mostly always found in urban areas where large numbers of people live. After a weekend of racing, the teams go to the workshop to repair the car again. Despite the fact that racing had existed since before 1978; Every time Mr. Robert Smawley introduced the NDRA, and later Mr. Bill France introduced NASCAR, more and more people paid attention to the sport of racing. Dirt track racing is exactly what it says it is; Dirt Racing is a type of auto racing that takes place on an oval dirt track ("What Dirt?"). The National Dirt Racking Association was founded in 1978 by Mr. Robert Smawley. Smawley was born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee. Smawley promoted his first race in Newport, Tennessee. It gave the winner (first to finish the 100-lap race) $10,000 ("In"). In the year 1923, Mr. Johnnie Hoskins introduced the first dirt track racing. He introduced dirt track racing with motorcycles. Hoskins started speedway in Australia ("Story"). The best year in the history of the NDRA was 1980. There were 449 different drivers from twenty-nine different states. They raced on thirteen different tracks. The NDRA was the nation's only late-model (1980) dirt track racing circuit. When the NDRA started the first person to have a three number car was Leon Archer. Archer stated "that the NDRA was the best thing that ever happened to dirt track racing" (NDRA). It takes a lot of responsibility to be part of a racing team.
