The influence of others In Filostrato, by Giovanni Boccaccio, influence plays an essential role when one person influences the other in many ways. The influence one has on the other can be strong or weak. A strong influence where a person does or listens to everything someone says, or a low influence where a person doesn't listen to anything someone says. Pandarus, who is a close friend of Trolius and cousin of Criseidas, has a strong influence on both of them and convinces them to listen to him and use the advice he gives without asking questions. Pandarus' influence on Trolius is so enduring that it somehow changes Trolius's way of thinking and behavior that challenges him to do things he wouldn't normally do. Trolio, who does not believe in love nor has ever been in love, finally witnesses firsthand the experience of passionate feeling and vows to keep it to himself because he does not want to be made fun of. Pandarus being the sweet talker of influence, Trolius explains to him what is causing him so much agony and anguish. Pandarus states “if your friendship now pleases you, as it once did, reveal to me what cruelty makes you so desire to die; it is not the act of a friend to keep something hidden from a friend” (40) He uses friends to never keep anything hidden from each other by saying to let out from Trolio what bound him so much what he loves. But Pandarus, still being curious, wanted to know who his friend fell in love with. He states “perhaps she who torments you will be such that I will be able to do much for your pleasure, and I would satisfy your desire, if I could, more than I would ever want mine, if I could only feel who she is for.” who do you have this pain. Get up; no... in the middle of the paper... am I like he loves you?" (100) Trolio's letter and Pandarus' wish reach Criseida in which she begins to feel compassion for Trolio and states: «she liked this because she felt the spirit pierced in her heart and every written word well noted, she praised and thanked his love, saying to herself, it is right that I find time and place to put out this fire” (126) With Criseida, Pandarus convinces her. to see things one way and to open his heart to Trolius Influence has so much power over a person and with a strong will and dedication a person can convince another to do things that seem suitable. the influential person, influences both Criseida and Trolio in a way that makes it all seem reasonable Anyone else would have little influence on them but not Pandarus, his influence is so strong and his drive to help Trolio and convince Criseida to love Trolio. it's exceptional.
