Topic > Treadway Tire Company Case Study - 1865

Introduction Ashley Wall, director of human resources, with 10 years of experience at Treadway Tire Company, decided to conduct an in-depth analysis of the job dissatisfaction problem of line foremen in a short amount of time and come up with an action plan to correct it. Using an action research approach to understand the problem from different perspectives, Ashley is determined to solve it as soon as possible by uncovering key issues in the plant using formal and informal documentation. According to Patton (2002), “understanding the nature of the problem by those involved will allow humans to more effectively control their environment” (p. 217). This is to say that as a participant in the problem being studied, personal insights and experiences can be interjected with a sense of urgency to bring any problem under control. Regarding the Treadway Tire Plant, this essay will discuss: (1) Any key issues with shortages; (2) Recommendations for a possible solution; and (3) Sources and collections of data to better understand the nature of the job dissatisfaction problem. Key Issues and Mistakes The examples used as examples of flywheel and doom cycle imagery in Collins' book, "Good to Great," found their success in continuing to push hard at what they were doing with each momentous turning point fueling that next. The Treadway Company could be described using this descriptor based on its efforts to drive the maximum expenditure of effort from foremen and line employees. Mandatory 12-hour shifts with 2 breaks and only half an hour for meals for foremen and clerks were how the company managed to run a continuous operation and essentially fix the costs of staying in business (Skinner & Beckh...... middle of paper......potential.
