Topic > Analysis of the cartoons illustrating the Egyptian...

To live you have to work. Work is absolutely necessary to enable man to satisfy his desires. In Egypt we are facing the problem of unemployment. There is a large number of unemployed youth. Unemployment occurs when people are out of work and actively looking for work. Most of the unemployed youth were between 20 and 24 years old, of which 39.3% were unemployed. There are many reasons that make a young person jobless: our poor education system, rapid population growth, poverty and the absence of economic investment. Unemployment will affect the person in many negative ways such as loss of human resources, illegal immigration, psychological problems and can lead him to illegal activities. Of course, the media plays a very important role in solving this problem in many ways. Cartoons are one such way that represents the problem in a humorous way. The cartoons are compared to represent the problem of unemployment. In the cartoon "A", it is a college degree and once students graduate and get certificates they enter the door of "Unemployment". In the cartoon "B", there is a man who will solve a problem with another man called "Unemployment". ” but he didn't know that this man is huge; therefore, he cannot do anything to him. The two cartoons clearly show us the message of how the unemployment problem is harsh and threatening, but cartoon “B” is better because it has stronger techniques such as symbolism, exaggeration, labeling and irony. Symbolism is found in both cartoons. Symbolism is the use of simple objects to represent larger concepts or ideas. In panel “A” the door through which the graduates enter represents Unemployment. And there seems to be nothing outside this door with... middle of paper... ace and body; therefore, this exaggeration shows us the big difference and that man cannot stand in front of this huge problem. Even the expression of sadness on the big man's face is exaggerated. The comparison is between the problem and the solution. The persuasive techniques in both cartoons reflect the fact that we are facing a real problem that is not easy to solve. But comic “B” has better techniques and sends the message to us clearly. If the unemployment problem remained unsolved, the economy would slow down. And this will make a big difference in our country. The solutions are not simple, but we have a common interest and together we can start like the International Youth Foundation, which provides the opportunity for young people to work and have a better future and also this foundation exists in many countries not only Egypt.
