List and describe the four (4) types of organizational communications. Be sure to discuss each one in depth. When dealing with communication in an organization, it is important to choose the type that best suits the overall benefit of the organization. The four types of organizational communication discussed in the book are downward communication, upward communication, horizontal communication, and the most well-known system for conveying communication is the Grapevine. The first type of organizational communication that the book outlines is downward communication. Downward communication is defined as the communication used by management to send orders, directives, objectives, policies, and so on to employees at lower levels of the organization. Five types of comminations within an organization can be identified as: 1) work education. These are communication relating to the execution of a certain task, 2) work logic, i.e. communication relating to a certain task and organizational tasks, 3) procedures and practices, i.e. communication about policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the organization, 4) feedback, which is described as communicative evaluation of how an individual performs assigned tasks, and 5) indoctrination which is described as communication designed to motivate employees (Swanson, 2012, p. 439). This type of communication allows the communicator to spell out specific objectives, prevent misunderstandings and miscommunications due to lack of details or information, to prepare recipients for upcoming changes, and help shape opinions among employees. According to research conducted and outlined in the book, downward communication tends to be in the middle…middle of the paper… (Swanson, 2012, p. 414). These are all key elements for a successful candidate, whether it's a new hire or a promotion. Furthermore, these are elements that could not be detected solely through a written test. Other advantages of Assessment Centers are that it is a good source for the candidate to find out strengths and weaknesses, it is more legitimate because the candidate is assessed by more experts, candidates can improve their performance and can increase their points of strength and eliminate obstacles. weaknesses (Akrani, 2011).Work citedAkrani, G.
