Topic > Solving Energy Crisis in Pakistan - 887

Energy has become a significant precondition for the economic development of any country. On the one hand it is used for industrial and agricultural purposes and on the other hand it is necessary for the domestic use of citizens. An energy crisis is considered as a shortage or deficit in the supply of energy resources for an economy. It usually refers to shortages of oil and electricity or other natural resources such as coal or gas. This crisis often has negative repercussions on the rest of the economy and causes numerous recessions, in particular the increase in production costs due to the increase in electricity tariffs. For consumers, the price of petroleum products such as gasoline and diesel for cars and other vehicles increases, leading to reduced consumer confidence and spending, higher transportation costs and an overall increase in prices. Pakistan is currently facing a serious energy crisis and despite the strong economic growth of the last decade and the resulting increase in energy demand, no significant steps have been taken to install new generating capacity for the necessary resources. Now, demands exceed supply and so “load shedding,” so to speak, is a common occurrence through frequent power outages. Sleepless nights driven by load shedding and disruption to daily routines still haunt people as the weather turns hot. The situation has not improved in the last three years; Indeed, all signs indicate that the situation is getting worse. In this context, the media also reported tragic deaths due to heat exhaustion and dehydration. This also leads to the forced closure of thousands of industries in winter, impacting industrial production and the livelihoods of thousands of families. a viable option. The choice is between using air conditioners only for a while and then going without electricity in the peak summer months or avoiding them and other gadgets but having electricity available 24 hours a day to meet essential household needs. It goes without saying that if the country wishes to continue its economic development and improve the quality of life of its population, it must make serious efforts to define a coherent energy strategy. In my opinion, the recommendations presented are practical and a step forward and, if implemented, can not only avoid the collapse of a bankrupt energy infrastructure, but also the certainty of progress. The main thing is, to safely overcome the current energy crisis; the nation must distinguish between its needs and its luxuries, at least for a few years.
