Topic > BP Oil Spill - 966

Introduction:-April 20, 2010, a tragic disaster struck the Gulf Coast. British Petroleum's Deepwater Horizon oil rig broke in three places and crude oil spilled into the sea. .it is considered that over 60,000 barrels of oil per day mix with the Gulf water and the oil extends 70 miles up to 130 miles into the sea and can be seen from space.Ethical issue:-The ethical issues in this case are the impact on the tourism industry of the Gulf of Mexico and its beaches, unemployment in the area due to business closures, destruction of wildlife and the environment, and concern for human health and trauma post-accident. It's been almost a year, but the world is still recovering from the devastation of the disastrous oil spill. It has destroyed the environment and wildlife everywhere and its full impact is still unknown. Environmental impacts may be evident for years to come. Due to the BP oil spill, all the commercial activities around the coastal beaches suffer a lot and depend only on tourism and fishing. This destruction not only causes health problems, but is also responsible for millions of dollars in lost revenue. Stakeholders: - Organizations or groups of people who have a direct or indirect interest in a particular organization or environment are called stakeholders. Affected Stakeholders: -* BP Oil Company* Government* Local Business* Employees* Wild Life* Environment* BPA Shareholder All above mentioned stakeholders were affected by the oil spill but unfortunately the oil spilled into the ocean killing all the fish and washing away from the coasts through the rivers, affecting the fishermen and the affected BP company because they need to clean all this up to be able to cover the costs, and the bad publicity of the oil spill has hit the governments with... half of paper......t Feinberg tries to think about the question. CONCLUSION Ultimately I come to the conclusion that BP was not adequately prepared for any such disaster, the risk assessment related to the project is very limited and it is not even taken into serious consideration for their own progress and to keep the public alive. and employees in danger because they don't follow a particular project's standard SOP. Even after the accident they try to close their eyes to reality. The company should consider this incident as a warning and should implement proper risk assessment for the future and also compensate damages on an ethical level and if they counter this situation in a positive way, their loss of bad reputation will be less as expected, they should consider their own responsibility. also towards society, by doing so they not only improve the lives of others, but also earn goodwill towards their company.
