The term personality comes from the Latin word persona, meaning mask. Personality is the public image of oneself. It is the attribute visible to the world. This aspect of personality implies that an individual's vital attributes remain hidden for various reasons. Personality allows a person to be socially viable, meaning that an individual could possess a very good personality, a bad personality, or no personality at all. Therefore, there are different definitions of personality. There is no perfect way to define personality. Personality as a whole has to do with the differences that exist within individuals which may relate to behavior, thought patterns, and emotional outbursts. There are various theories presented by theorists which are based on their studies and projections. Personality is a dynamic organization, within the person, of psychophysical systems that create patterns of behavior, thoughts and feelings characteristic of the person (GW Allport, 1961). The way a person thinks, behaves and acts can be called personality. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: the first study involves understanding individual differences in particular personality characteristics, which may be sociability or irritability. The second study is about understanding how the different attributes of an individual come together as a whole. The internal process that drives behavior is personality. Gordon Allport (1961) points out that personality is psychophysical, meaning both physical and psychological. There are biological and genetic phenomena involved that affect personality. Child (1968) emphasizes that personality is stable – or at least relatively stable. Nothing changes... in the middle of the paper... the human characteristic concerns the differences between individuals. to describe the components of human nature and the characteristics in which human beings differ is considered its own achievement; explaining their origins, how they interact, how they change over time, and their functional significance is another. Describing what human beings are like and explaining why one is the way he is is the goal of personhood. It actually describes and explains human nature and the differences between individuals. There are several theories that emphasize various aspects of human nature and individual differences and offer different descriptions, explanations, and methods for studying them. the best understanding of personality can be better understood by providing the set of many personality theories instead of a single theory.
