Unfair Trials There are many innocent people who have been wrongly accused of crimes they did not commit and are not entirely to blame for that crime, the corrupt system or unfair trials can cause this. Many stories can relate to this statement. As in the case of; David Bryant, an African American now 56, was accused of raping and killing an 8-year-old girl in 1975. He was only 18 then. Spending his last 38 years in New York's Marcy Prison, he was finally released. “The New York Times reports that the judge found that Bryant's lawyer's failure to consult with a blood and semen analysis expert deprived him of a fair trial” (wow, this is it). In this case you could say the lawyer was at fault, but who knows maybe the lawyer was getting paid, or something else could have happened, since it was so far away that it could have been a racial issue. In No Choirboy, Roy Burgess also had an unfair trial and was accused of killing Kevin Gardener. The only witnesses were his three supposed friends; placing all the blame for the crime on him. The judge chose to believe those three criminals. Roy's defense attorney put a young woman on the stand, who then confessed to hearing Demetrius and his sister arguing; Demetrius confessed in the discussion that [he actually killed Kevin Gardener, and blamed Roy] his sister testified soon after confirming what the other young woman had said before (Kuklin 17). The judge did not believe what he had the testimony of the three boys. Kash Delano Register was sentenced to 27 years to life in prison for allegedly killing Jack Sasson, 78, in April 1979. (...... middle of document ...... chance to start a family , be a father, husband, grandfather just like the character in No Choirboy “Someday I want a wife, I want kids” (Kuklin, 21 years old) Roy said he was so excited to finally be out and couldn't wait to eat a cooked meal. Although the law wants and has the right to protect American citizens, it sometimes fails to do so, as shown in No Choirboy's personal narrative and interviews, "Wow, This Is All New" and "In Jail for 35 years but innocent.
