Decision Making Concept: Decision making is one of the most important aspects in life and work due to its strong link with success and effectiveness. In reality, successful people achieve their goals in life and work through effective and efficient decision making. Decision making is usually guided by an individual's beliefs, values and attitudes, as well as concepts. Although a person can use various concepts in making decisions, he should be very careful to select a concept that is effective and contributes to tremendous success. However, these concepts exist to help an individual become a better decision maker in the world around them. Decision-Making Concepts Resonate With Me: As mentioned above, there are various decision-making concepts that enable an individual to become a better decision-maker in his or her daily life. One such concept that resonates with me as a decision maker is the WRAP model. The WRAP model is an important concept because it allows a person to make their own decisions through intentional illumination of strategic points or points of consideration (Heath & Heath, 2013, p.24). In this case the decision is not made on the basis of what normally comes to the person's attention, but through the examination of hidden angles or facts. The WRAP model basically involves broadening options, reality testing hypotheses, getting the distance before deciding, and preparing to make mistakes. Option broadening focuses primarily on expanding the set of choices through identifying new options and analyzing them. More astute questions follow to filter the information and collect the reliable ones. Because making a choice at this stage can lead to a poor decision, the next step is to develop... middle of paper ... individuals understand how their mind processes auditory and visual information and the potential biases that contribute to certain types of behaviors. As individuals become increasingly aware of their biases, they begin to question and examine them through rational decision making in order to alter or improve their behaviors by making better decisions. In conclusion, decision making is an important concept in everyday life because it is linked to success and effectiveness in various situations. This process is usually done based on various concepts and models such as the WRAP model. An individual's ability to make the most appropriate decision in a particular decision is based on his or her ability to choose the best possible concept or process for decision making. However, one should not be rigid when using a particular decision model or concept.
