Character Analysis of GilgameshIn the Epic of Gilgamesh, there are many complex characters. Each character involved in the story has their own personality and traits. The main character of the novel is Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh is a very confident character. He feels superior to others because he is two-thirds god and one-third man. This arrogance leads him to be cruel at the beginning of the story. Gilgamesh is described as: "two-thirds of him divine, one-third human... Gilgamesh does not allow the son to go with his father; day and night he oppresses the weak... Gilgamesh does not let the maiden go to her mother, the maiden to her warrior, the bride from the young husbandä (table I, column ii, 1, 12-13, 27-28). Gilgamesh is a man without equal, therefore he feels superior. Even if Gilgamesh is cruel at first, he becomes a man of good-hearted. He is extremely supportive of Enkidu and encourages him in various situations. When men fight, Humbaba Gilgamesh says, "[t]hou shalt overcome them all... in one Friday"....
