Racism is proven to arise from an individual needing to maintain (even if an imaginary position) of supremacy. A racist will use all possible means to subjugate the victimized race. A racist feels no remorse or sympathy for the impact his racist actions have on the victims. The general aura of all signs projects a racism of hatred and heartless sensitivity. SoR is not an unbiased piece of literature. Kapur gives us the point of view of a person afflicted by subtle racism. As a result, we see the views of the victim and not the racist expressed. This position is espoused by most of the world, and therefore is readily accepted. (It could be an interesting concept for a book, though: The Bigot's Hatred.) This bias doesn't affect his writing, however. On the contrary, the reality that Kapur knew all along (hidden racism) supports his subjective reasoning. The description (or rather, the oblique explanation) of a racist was also emphasized in SoR: a racist is a racist regardless of religion, intelligence, cultural level, social status, benevolence towards members of his own race or social motivation.
