Project Structure The structure the KICK team used to complete this project is described below. Rather than simply find a company and schedule an interview to explore recognized issues, the team felt it would be best to brainstorm issues that Chinese companies might encounter first, and then initially qualify this hypothesis with any company a which we subsequently turned to. Many issues were discussed resulting in a shortlist. The most important potential problem that emerged was the widely reported problem of employee turnover in China's dynamic economy. This helped define business search terms. The team's individual contacts have been contacted and the team's hypothesis has been qualified at this time. The strongest candidate company was a fast-growing Chinese company, where it was confirmed that a key issue was indeed high staff turnover. This was subsequently chosen and the scope of the project was defined. A company visit was scheduled with one of the founders, who is also the Vice President of the company. The team created a questionnaire and were lucky enough to be able to spend almost 3 hours in the company. This data was then compared to a series of benchmarks, to understand what the academic and business case findings could offer in terms of a solution. This, combined with the team's experience and learning, led to the proposed solution.2. Company AnalysisBeijing Lonma Entertainment International Co., Ltd. (LMEI) is a modern creative media company headquartered in Global Trade Center, Beijing, China. It is an oriental animation entertainment company that produces cartoons, markets them, and licenses the cartoon characters to other companies. The company was founded in 2004 by 3 people, all highly qualified in the cartoon industry. Everyone planned and prepared for over 2 years before the foundation, including market research, human resources, capital financing etc., which enabled the smooth operation of the company in the early days. Since then the company has grown very rapidly. The total number of employees increased from 33 in 2004 to 200 in 2006.
