Have you ever thought about the history of dance, or how long has human life known about it? Dance has been here longer than we think. We can take the dance back in time to 600 BC to today. Dance has brought about great and extraordinary changes. We went from doing it only in honor of the deceased or for religious situations to now doing it just for fun. The way or different moves have also changed over this great course of time. The ways, movements and clothes used to perform these different types of dances have changed. There have always been clean and dirty dances, some things in those dances remained, others did not. Dance has been a great thing and will continue to be throughout human life because it expresses so much. It is expressed, and a person can express their feelings, in different types of moves. It takes time to learn the moves, but you can do it. What was dance like from 600 BC to 1 BC and were the different types? “The Choros” was a dance that didn't really involve movement but had great meanings for the people and their gods. The choros was a dance in which a group of people danced in a circle next to the temple virgins. In India this dance would involve hand movements. The temple of the virgin was the hub of the development of Greek theater. This was done in honor of a God and was usually held during the Olympic Games. The god before whom people danced in this period was Dionysus. He was the god of fertility and wine, women danced to him in a state of frenzy. As they danced they carried long phallic symbols known as Thyrsoi, tore it to pieces and devoured the raw flesh of a sacrificial animal. With these practices the Dionysians also developed a more structured form of… middle of paper… emotionally or physically. Dance is a great way to express yourself when you are happy, sad, excited, gloomy or just to feel better. The dance didn't start out very cleanly or beautifully, it had a mix of everything and always will. So the people who perform it make the best of it and it becomes their passion.
