The Pixar film Monster's University is rich in institutions of ideological state apparatuses according to Louis Althusser's 1970 article “Ideology and ideological state apparatuses: notes towards an investigation” (Dan Scanlon, 2013 ). The two main lines of that film are the educational and cultural institutions of the ISA (Althusser, 1970). This film shows how educational and cultural institutions teach monsters to live effectively in monster society and follow the norms and rules of ideology. According to Louis Althusser's theory, the repressive state apparatus (RSA) is used by those in power to establish norms and force society to follow those norms (1970). The main components of the RSA are Government, Police, Court and Prison. Furthermore, the main tool for making this theory work is repression and mental and physical violence (Althusser, 1970). Even the institutions of the Repressive State Apparatus follow a consolidated ideology and make society aware of this ideology (Althusser, 1970). On the other hand, the Ideological State Apparatus (ISA) is used by those in power to teach norms and rules to society and force them to follow these norms voluntarily or using a certain level of violence. The main institutions of the ISA are Family, Education, Religion, Legal, Political, Cultural and Communication (Althusser, 1970). The educational institution of ISA can be seen throughout the entire film. The movie Monster's University begins with the scene where little Mike Wazowski, a short, green monster with only one eye and small horns, is very excited to be on a tour of Monsters Inc with his class. Mike's appearance doesn't really give him the ability to look scary and he doesn't have the required characteristics... middle of the paper...ISA tutions touting the profession of scarer in the world Monstropolis and those who became scary were aware of the ideology and continue to follow it.
